This three-story lakefront home on Lake Murray is for sale. Here’s how much.
A five-bedroom, six-bathroom lakefront home on Lake Murray is listed for sale.
The 6,700-square-foot, 3.5-story home is located in a private, gated community on Lake Murray known as Spence Plantation and is listed at a more than $3.3 million asking price. For that price, the home offers a kitchen on every level, walk-in closets and direct access to Lake Murray on a little more than half an acre.
With a hot tub, basement home movie theater, fitness room and sauna, the massive home has no shortage of options. The primary bedrooms feature large wall-to-wall windows with views of the lake. The main kitchen is outfitted with double ovens, a built-in sub-zero fridge and a walk-in pantry. Outside, the house has a three-car garage, a saltwater pool and its own boat dock.
The house was built in 1997, according to its listing on Zillow. The home was purchased in June 2000 for $930,000, according to county property records. The listing on Zillow indicates that more than a million dollars in renovations have been done over the last two decades.
The home’s realtor, Stephanie Witthoeft, said the family decided to sell the Lake Murray property after finding a new home near their family.
The home is one of the more expensive ones listed for sale on Lake Murray, but indicates a growing trend along the lake in Lexington County.
“The values on Lake Murray have increased quite substantially,” Witthoeft, a realtor with Carolina Homes Connection, said. “There’s a lot of raw land outside the gates of this community, Spence Plantation, that’s going for around a million dollars, which is crazy because you definitely can’t build a house like this for what we’re selling it for now.”
As Lexington County has added nearly 100,000 people to its population over the last two decades, Witthoeft said she typically shows properties like this one to people from larger markets like Atlanta or New York City who want to use these homes as a second home alongside their primary residence.
“I’ve had people from those major metro markets that are looking to come to the South for the good weather ... they’re keeping their residences where they are and then looking at this as a vacation. The house, itself, is a resort,” Witthoeft said.
The listing for the home at 1252 Morning Shore Drive can be found on Zillow.com or on Carolina Homes Connections’ website.
