A company that makes products for the solar power industry plans to establish a new facility that aims to bring hundreds of new jobs to South Carolina.

First Solar, a company headquartered in Arizona, will open a new production facility at 121 Logistics Drive in Gaffney, according to a release from Gov. Henry McMaster’s office. The $330 million facility is set to bring in more than 600 new jobs, the release noted.

The facility in Gaffney, which will open in the second half of 2026, will oversee the final production processes for the company’s Series 6 solar modules, often referred to as panels. First Solar currently operates a distribution center in Duncan.

“This investment by First Solar will further strengthen South Carolina’s growing reputation in the clean energy sector, and we are excited for the economic opportunities it will bring to a rural part of our state,” McMaster said in a statement.
