This busy Lexington road is getting a new national pizza restaurant location
A major national pizza chain is planning a location along a busy road near a major interstate in Lexington.
Pizza Hut, which has locations across the U.S., is planning a spot at 364-A Longs Pond Road, according to November documents from the Lexington County Planning Commission. The coming Longs Pond Road location also is listed as “coming soon” on Pizza Hut’s website.
The Pizza Hut will be going into a spot in the Longs Pond Square shopping strip that formerly was home to a Schooners Bar & Grill, which closed in July. An opening date for the Pizza Hut has not been publicly announced, though construction work was going on inside the space when a reporter went by Tuesday.
The new pizza spot will be coming to a bustling road in Lexington County just south of Interstate 20. Other businesses nearby on Longs Pond Road include a Starbucks, an Arby’s, a McDonald’s and a Love’s gas station and convenience store, among others. About 13,600 cars per day travel down that stretch of Longs Pond Road, per state Department of Transportation data, and about 51,000 cars per day travel down Interstate 20 nearby.
Pizza Hut is an instantly recognizable name, as the company has more than 6,700 locations across the U.S., per data site ScrapeHero. The company is known for its pizza, obviously, but also offers breadsticks, wings, pasta, salads and more.
