BJ’s Wholesale Club has set an opening for a new SC store. Here’s when it debuts
A major membership warehouse retailer is set to open a new location in the Midlands.
BJ’s Wholesale Club, a Massachusetts-based company with locations throughout the U.S., will open a new store on Dec. 12 at 1475 Alice Drive in Sumter, according to a release. This will be the third BJ’s in South Carolina, following locations in Myrtle Beach and Summerville.
BJ’s Wholesale Club was founded in 1984 in New England and now has more than 250 locations across 21 states. The membership-only clubs are known for their groceries, full-service delis and bakeries, household items, electronics, toys, home decor goods and many other items. The Sumter BJ’s also features an on-site gas station.
“BJ’s continues to grow in communities where unbeatable value resonates,” BJ Executive Vice Preident Bill Werner said in a statement. “We’ll bring savings of up to 25% off grocery store prices every day, and we look forward to taking care of the families who depend on us.”
Annual memberships at the Sumter BJ’s range from $40 to $80, with the $80 option offering additional perks such as discounts on gasoline, free curbside pickup and more.
The Sumter BJ’s is coming to a bustling commercial area on Alice Drive near Broad Street. Nearby businesses include a Walmart, a Lowe’s Home Improvement, a TJ Maxx, a Starbucks and more. More than 30,000 cars per day travel down the section of Broad Street near BJ’s, per state Department of Transportation data.
