Multiple students were taken to the hospital after a Midlands school bus was involved in an accident Thursday.

The wreck occurred shortly before 5 p.m. when a Sumter County school bus collided with another vehicle near the intersection of St. Paul Road and Patriot Parkway, the Sumter Item reports.

The Sumter paper reports that around 20 children and five adults were aboard the bus at the time, while three people were in the other vehicle.

Few details on the collision were available. Ten students and three adults were taken to a local hospital with “minor injuries” as a precautionary measure, a Sumter Fire Department official said.

The incident is under investigation by South Carolina Highway Patrol, WIS TV reports.
