For years West Columbia’s Eggroll Station delighted fans of Chinese cuisine with its food and fans of the University of South Carolina Gamecocks with a message on its sign.

Now the restaurant is bidding farewell.

Eggroll Station, located for more than three decades at 135 Sunset Blvd., will close its doors on Saturday, Dec. 20, as noted on a sign posted at the restaurant.

“Thank you, valued customers!” the sign reads. “We will close the restaurant on December 20, 2025 after 35 wonderful years. We are deeply grateful for your support and for allowing us to serve this community. ... Forever Go Cocks and Go E’rolls.”

The note encouraged customers to visit Egg Roll Station’s sister restaurant, Egg Roll Chen, which is at 715 Crowson Road in Columbia.

The closure of Eggroll Station has been expected for some time now, though an exact date had not been known. The restaurant’s building was purchased by Baker Commercial Properties in 2024, and that company has long had plans to redevelop the connecting Capitol Square shopping center property.

Eggroll Station was long known in the Midlands for the sign that was in front of its building for decades that read “Go Cocks Go E’rolls,” a nod to their namesake dish and the hometown team. Unfortunately, the sign was destroyed back in July when it was hit by a vehicle.

The Sunset Boulevard restaurant has a menu of Chinese favorites, including sweet-and-sour chicken, shrimp fried rice, moo goo gai pan, lo mein dishes and, of course, egg rolls.
