The old Red Lobster building in Cayce has sat vacant. It’s getting a new tenant.
The old Red Lobster building in Cayce is getting a new tenant after sitting empty since it closed in August 2024.
The Medical University of South Carolina, MUSC, will put a primary care facility in the old chain restaurant at 1270 Knox Abbott Drive, Kristin Merkel, a spokesperson for MUSC, confirmed to The State. The news comes after NAI announced in a mid-December press release that the real estate company brokered the sale of the building for $1.975 million.
The primary care center is anticipated to open by the fall of this year, Merkel said.
“MUSC Health chose Cayce for our next primary care location to better serve this rapidly growing area. Its close proximity to downtown Columbia and the continued growth of Cayce and West Columbia make it an ideal location to expand access to exceptional primary care,” Merkel wrote in an email to The State.
The location will be MUSC’s first in Cayce, according to its website.
