A retailer in Columbia’s Five Points is closing its storefront. What to know
A vintage clothing shop in a popular Columbia neighborhood plans to shutter its storefront location.
Pannerpete Vintage, located at 738 Harden St. in Five Points, announced its coming closure in posts on social media and signage hanging in the window of its shop. The last day for the store will be Jan. 25.
While the storefront location will be closing, Pannerpete will live on as a business, as owners Katie Roberts and David Hicks said on Instagram and in storefront signage that the vintage clothier will continue to be a presence at the popular Soda City Market on Saturdays in Columbia, and will participate in various other pop-up markets.
“Having the store was an amazing experience for us,” Roberts said on Instagram. “We met some really cool people, made some great friends, learned a lot about ourselves and business, in general. But we’ve just decided that owning a store isn’t right for us and we want to go back to vending at markets only like we were doing before.”
In a sign posted in the front window at Pannerpete, the owners note they “are not saddened” by the decision to close the storefront, and instead see it as an “exciting new chapter in the Pannerpeteiverse.”
Pannerpete opened its Harden Street store in 2023 after gaining popularity at Soda City. The business is known for its vintage fashions, including shirts, pants, shoes, sweaters, dresses, bags, accessories and more.
