A Chinese restaurant not far from the University of South Carolina’s baseball stadium has closed.

The Millennium Buffet, which has operated for a number of years at 409 Blossom St., not far from the Blossom Street Bridge and across the road from USC’s Founders Park, has shuttered. There was a handwritten sign on the door indicating the closure when a reporter stopped by on Monday during what normally would have been open business hours.

There also was a sign in the driveway touting the closure and noting that equipment would be for sale.

The phone number listed for Millennium Buffet on its website and Google was no longer working as of Monday morning.

The building at 409 Blossom St. was built in 1969, according to Richland County property records. The facility has hosted a number of restaurants across the decades, according to archives in The State and the Columbia Record. For instance, in the 1970s it was home to Frank N’ Stein, which served hot dogs and other items.

Later the property was home to other businesses, including Stadium Steakhouse, a strip club called Twin Peaks with no relation to the restaurant chain, and Jesters on Blossom Supper Club. The facility had been operating as Millennium Buffet for at least the last 20 years, per newspaper archives.
