Why are trees being cut down along the I-26 corridor near Seven Oaks?

A luxury car dealership has begun cutting down trees along I-26 to pave way for a new location near Harbison.

Dick Dyer Mercedes and Volvo will relocate to 550 Tram Road in the Seven Oaks area after outgrowing its Two Notch Road location, according to spokesperson Madeline Amick. While the dealership broke ground in October, motorists on I-26 can now see trees being cut down in preparation for the new multi-million-dollar building.

The new location, which is expected to open sometime in 2027, will feature the dealership’s traditional lineup of Mercedes-Benz and Volvo models as well as — for the first time — Sprinter vans, Amick said.

Sprinter vans are commonly used by home delivery giants such as Amazon and other businesses that offer plumbing, electric and plumbing services.

“We’re super thrilled to be adding the Sprinter to our inventory, while being in a more central location,” Amick said.

Across the state, South Carolina has eight Mercedes-Benz dealerships, including in Charleston, Florence, Greenville, Myrtle Beach and Spartanburg.
