Rosewood Drive property near Publix listed for redevelopment. What we know.
Nearly an acre of land near the Rosewood Publix in southeast Columbia is up for sale.
The Nancy C Papas Trust owns the slate of properties that have been listed for sale by local real estate firm NAI Columbia for $1.4 million.
The property for sale includes seven parcels between Howard and Maple streets on Rosewood Drive, a significant commercial corridor anchored by the busy Publix grocery store at 2800 Rosewood Dr.
Among the properties for sale include a lot where currently the neighborhood bar Fox Field is located.
Existing businesses operate on either side of the for-sale properties. A large shopping center that is home to Publix, the Main Moon Chinese restaurant and other businesses sits to the east of the listed properties, while Rosewood Drive’s Walgreens sits on a lot to the west.
The stretch of Rosewood Drive on which the property is located sees an average of 24,000 vehicles per day.
NAI is listing the property as an opportunity for infill development, which means building something new on land that is already located within a developed area.
Further down Rosewood Drive, the Gaffos family trust has also listed property to be redeveloped.
In December, NAI Columbia issued a release announcing that 3.14 acres on that busy intersection could be redeveloped. The site is currently occupied by a handful of businesses and homes.
Specifically, NAI said a convenience store would be ideal for the site “as there is little to no competition in the immediate area.”
If a convenience store did set up on the site, it would join a string of similar shops on Rosewood Drive and Beltline Boulevard, as well as a Quick Trip 1.5 miles away near Fort Jackson.
