Firefighters responded to White Knoll High School on Saturday after a brush fire broke out behind the school.

Lexington County firefighters responded Saturday afternoon to a “significant” fire in the rear part of the Platt Springs Road campus, the Lexington 1 school district said in an email sent to White Knoll students and families.

The fire was put out, leaving a substantial amount of smoke hanging over the area. Residents were warned to stay away from the White Knoll High area.

No damage was reported to any of the school buildings, and no one was injured, the school district said.

The cause of the fire was not identified. White Knoll High School backs up to a residential neighborhood on Riglaw Circle.
