A national store known for its selection of video game systems and games has shuttered a pair of Columbia locations.

GameStop, which has video game stores across the U.S., has closed its locations at 6080 Garners Ferry Road in the Shoppes at Woodhill development and at 327 Killian Road in northeast Columbia. Both locations are listed as “permanently closed” on Google, and their entries on GameStop’s website show them as closed each day of the week.

The Garners Ferry and Killian locations also are listed among the closures on the GameStop Closing List online blog that has extensively catalogued closures of the chain in recent years.

According to TV station WLTX, the two Columbia closures are among more than 400 GameStop closures across the U.S. this month. There were about 2,000 GameStop stores in the U.S. as of Dec. 2025, according to data website ScrapeHero.

GameStop has long been known as a go-to spot for video game systems, games, equipment, toys and other gaming-related items. A number of other Midlands locations remain open, including in Lexington, the Forest Acres area, the Village at Sandhill and elsewhere.
