South Carolina man’s death being investigated by OSHA, coroner says
A South Carolina man was killed Tuesday while he was working, and the death is being investigated by OSHA, according to the Kershaw County Coroner’s Office.
Sheldon Moree, a 25-year-old Chesterfield resident, died in what Coroner David West called an accident.
Moree was doing industrial drilling in the Bethune area when he was fatally electrocuted, West said Wednesday in a news release.
Specific information about where Moree was drilling, what equipment he was using, why he was drilling and the name of the company he worked for was not available.
A message left for the coroner’s office was not immediately returned.
Following the accident, a 911 call was made at about 5:35 p.m. Tuesday, according to the release. Moree died at the scene, West said.
No other injuries were reported.
In addition to OSHA, West said the corner’s office is continuing to investigate the death.
