A well-known burger chain has closed a Columbia-area location. What to know
A nationally known restaurant that offers burgers and frozen sweet treats has closed one of its Midlands locations.
Freddy’s Frozen Custard & Steakburgers, which has restaurants across the U.S. and several in the area, has closed the location at 10611 Broad River Road in Irmo. That location is listed as “permanently closed” on Google and is no longer listed on the company’s website. The Freddy’s signage had been removed from the building when a reporter rode by on Wednesday evening.
The property at 10611 Broad River Road in Irmo has been listed for sale at a cost of $2.2 million, according to real estate firm CBRE’s website.
The Irmo Freddy’s along Broad River Road first opened in 2018, as reported in The State at the time. The chain still has several locations open in the Midlands, including spots in Lexington, West Columbia, and on Killian Road in northeast Columbia. Freddy’s is known for its burgers, shoestring french fries, creamy frozen custard and more.
The Broad River Road area in Irmo, which connects to the Dutch Fork Road corridor, is a busy stretch with a number of businesses, including Chick-fil-A, McDonald’s, Arby’s, Biscuitville, Walmart, Aldi and many others.
