4 people died in the weekend SC ice storm, latest coroners report says. Here’s what we know

Four people died as a result of accidents during the ice storm last weekend, the South Carolina Department of Public Health reported.

On Wednesday, a 79-year-old male died in Oconee County as a result of a slip-and-fall accident involving ice left over from the storm. Oconee County Coroner Karl E. Addis said the Seneca man died at 11:30 p.m. Wednesday night in the intensive care unit at Prisma Greenville Memorial Hospital.

Addis said he fell at approximately 2:15 pm Wednesday on the concrete driveway at his residence while walking to his mailbox.

He died from complications of a head injury and the manner of death was classified as an accident, Addis said. He did not release the man’s identify.

Also, a 59-year-old Charleston County man died from hypothermia Monday.

A 96-year-old woman in Greenwood County who the Greenwood County Coroner said had dementia died Monday after being reported missing. Coroner Sonny Cox said the woman’s name is not being released.

An 83-year-old woman in Lexington County died Sunday of hypothermia.
