Check out this house near Lake Murray that sold for more than $5M
A 6,000-square-foot home on Lake Murray has sold for $5.75 million.
The 5-bed, 6-bath home at 348 Pilgrim Church Road is in a popular part of Lexington County, on the stretch between North Lake Drive and Cherokee Trail and across from the Village Green development. The house faces Lake Murray but the surrounding 14 acres separates the house from the roadway.
The lake house sold for $4 million on Jan. 12, while the adjoining acreage of mostly undeveloped woodland sold for a separate $1.75 million, according to consolidated listings for the Columbia area.
The home was built in 2018, but the land goes back in the Compton family to colonial times, said seller Jason Compton.
“My family’s been in that area, one way or another, since the royal grant from England,” Compton said. “We’re going to sell my parents’ (house) there next.”
The craftsman-style house was custom-made by Avant-Garde Builders, Compton said, to include a swimming pool, a fire pit and a putting green along with a boat dock on Lake Murray.
“We made a lot of decisions we agonized over. We built it like we would live there for the rest of our lives,” he said. “But we’re happy to turn it over to the people who bought it. They’ll be good stewards of the property.”
Despite its size, the house is designed to be energy efficient, with geothermal heating and air.
“It’s very efficient, very comfortable. It felt like a smaller house efficiency-wise,” Compton said. “I’m very happy for the folks who will live there.”
The property was sold by Fallon Hines with Southern Visions Real Estate.
