One person is dead after an early morning house fire Friday near Camden.

Kershaw County Coroner David West said the deceased is Ronnie Grant, 65, of the Camden area. West said Grant was pronounced dead at the scene of the fire.

The Kershaw County Fire Service said on social media that firefighters responded early Friday to the 1200 block of the Bishopville Highway after receiving a call of a fire. West said in a release that the call to 911 came at about 3:30 a.m. Friday. The Kershaw County Fire Service, Kershaw County EMS and the Camden Fire Department all responded to the blaze.

West said in a release that, when firefighters got on the scene, the house was “on the ground.”

The Kershaw County Fire Service noted on Facebook that the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division was notified to conduct an investigation into the cause of the fire.
