Lexington road to see traffic change for upcoming construction. What to expect.
The state’s transportation department will temporarily install a four-way stop along a Lexington road as it adds a new roundabout.
The intersection at Meadowfield Road and Jim Spence Road along SC-6, just west of Gaston, will see a new all-way stop – meaning traffic among the two-lane SC-6 road will have to stop while passing through – beginning March 13, the state’s transportation department announced Monday.
Construction on the traffic roundabout is expected to be completed in 2027, the department said. In 2024, SC-6 around that area saw 8,400 cars a day on average, according to state traffic counts.
The S.C. Department of Transportation said it had posted signs in the area to warn drivers of the new traffic pattern and asked that drivers slow down and watch for construction crews.
