A new spot for sweet treats and bubble tea has debuted in a popular Midlands shopping center.

D&Tea Dessert and Bubble Tea opened this week at the Parkland Plaza shopping center in Cayce on Knox Abbott Drive. The dessert and bubble tea shop is next door to East Bay Deli and the Sandy Nails & Spa, and a few doors down from a Planet Fitness Gym. D&Tea is in a space that formerly was home to a Mai Poke restaurant.

A sign on the front door at the Cayce D&Tea on Wednesday morning noted the new restaurant is in the “soft opening” phase. There also is another D&Tea location on Bower Parkway in the Harbison area, near the Columbiana Grande movie theater.

As the name suggests, the menu at D&Tea includes a variety bubble teas and sweet offerings. Menus posted on the popular Real Columbia Foodies Facebook page show offerings including a strawberry matcha, a honeydew milk tea, a toasted cream tea, a mango fruit tea and many other drinks.

Desserts on the roster include chocolate mousse cheesecake, tiramisu, and strawberry swirl cheesecake, among other goodies.

The Parkland Plaza shopping center has long been a prominent commercial spot in Cayce. Anchored by a Food Lion, it also features an Ace Hardware, the famed Kingsman restaurant, a Bealls clothing store, Monterrey Mexican restaurant, the aforementioned Planet Fitness and more. It’s in a high-traffic area just west of the Blossom Street bridge, and about 25,000 cars per day travel that stretch, per state Department of Transportation data.
