A retired couple from Pennsylvania was found dead in their upscale Simpsonville home in an apparent murder-suicide.

The Greenville County Coroner’s Office identified them Thursday as Gloria and Daryl Dobson of Appian Way in the Five Forks area of Greenville County.

She was 73, and her death was ruled a homicide. He was 75, and his death was ruled a suicide.

They had been dead for about 10 days before a relative called law enforcement asking for a welfare check. Deputies found the bodies Tuesday.

A gun was found near one of their bodies.

Their two dogs were found shot to death and a bird decapitated, officials said.

The Dobsons bought the house on Appian Way in 2017 for $588,900, county records show, and put it in a trust in December 2025.

Deputy Coroner Shelton England said the husband was a retired prison guard and the wife a retired nurse.

Property records show the couple owned a house in Turbotville, Pennsylvania, from 1985 until 2021. The small community beside the Cumberland River is about 150 miles northwest of Philadelphia.
