These are the worst rated restaurants in Greenville County SC for March. Here’s why.
Four Greenville County restaurants received the lowest scores for March from state inspectors for improper temperature and storage of food and grease build up in various places.
No Greenville County restaurants received the worst rating of C in March.
The four restaurants with the lowest scores were all within the B scale.
A total of 405 inspections were made, both routine and reinspections with 384 earning an A and 21 a B.
Super Mercado of Greenville on White Horse Road was inspected on March 5 and received an 80.
The inspector saw both employees changing tasks without handwashing steps and one washed hands in a 3 compartment sink. Restrooms did not have anything to dry hands with.
Manual warewashing was done without a sanitizing step.
Items in the upright cooler were at improper temperature including sour cream and raw beef as were various salsas in the self-service salsa station and carnitas at the prep table.
The walk-in cooler had salsas and cooked chicken without dates marked.
Wet and soiled wiping cloths were not in sanitizing solution and knives between two prep tables were in contact with unclean surfaces.
A stone porous molcajete was not smooth or easily cleanable and a cutting board had large gouges. Debris was on equipment, the floor had large gaps and crevices preventing proper cleaning and the concrete was not sealed.
The business was reinspected on March 13 and received an 88 and then 96, an A, on March 20.
An inspector visited Koi Asian Bistro on Pelmham Road on March 3, and rated it an 80.
There were no paper towels available in the employee restroom, ice crystals from condensate on an open package of egg rolls in the reach-in freezer and multiple containers of raw fish were stored above cabbage and carrots in the walk-in cooler. The dish machine did not have adequate chlorine.
A reduced oxygen package of fish in the walk-in cooler was thawed inside the packaging.
The back door of the kitchen was left open.
There was a build-up of oil/grease on the hood vent filters and debris inside keg coolers, bar coolers and on the dish machine.
Used cooking oil and grease was on the ground around the oil recycling container and outside the gutter spout on the ground. Debris build up was on the floors around the fryers, bar area, walk-in cooler and around the hot water heater.
The restaurant was reinspected on March 13 and earned 100 points.
Los Maya’s Mexican Grill on Groce Meadow Road in Taylors was given 82 points on March 18.
The inspector saw an employee eating in the expo area and an employee drink and food placed on a cutting board. There was no soap at hand sink in the bar area.
In the kitchen / walk-in cooler 32 pound buckets of lettuce, verde and burrito sauces were stored in dish detergent buckets.
Improper temperature was recorded in the kitchen / cook line / salad cooler / chicken.
The restaurant received 100 points on reinspection on March 23.
The City Club of Greenville, a private club on the upper floor of one of the Liberty Square buildings on Beattie Place, was inspected on March 9 and given 82 points.
The restaurant was cited for improper temperature in the steam table and in the cold holding area, where sliced ham, pimento cheese, pepperoni, tomato sauce, salsa, chicken and Caesar salad dressing was stored.
