The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division has charged an Aiken County man in a lottery fraud scheme, according to a Friday SLED news release.

John Benjamin Martin, 37, was charged Tuesday, March 31, with four counts of intent to defraud involving counterfeit game tickets. The South Carolina Education Lottery requested the investigation.

According to arrest warrants included with the release, Martin “did pass a quantity of stolen SC Lottery tickets” at Mo’s Convenience Store on Sand Bar Ferry Road in Aiken County on Nov. 29, 2025, and Dec. 10, 2025.

Martin was booked into the Aiken County Detention Center, according to the release. The SLED statement does not say when Martin was booked. The case will be prosecuted by the 2nd Circuit Solicitor’s Office.
