One person died and another was injured in a Sunday crash on a South Carolina roadway.

South Carolina Highway Patrol Cpl. David Jones said in a release that the crash happened at 12:20 p.m. Sunday on U.S. 15 near Rockfish Lane in Lee County. That’s southwest of the town of Bishopville.

The Highway Patrol said a 2016 Chevrolet Tahoe was traveling south of U.S. 15 and slowed to take a turn into a private driveway. A 2014 Chevrolet Sonic sedan, also traveling south, was unable to stop and hit the Tahoe in the rear, then went off the right side of the road and hit a tree.

The driver of the Sonic died at the scene, the Highway Patrol said, while the driver of the Tahoe was taken to an area hospital for injuries.

The name of the deceased had not been released as of early Monday morning. The crash remains under investigation by the Highway Patrol.
