A machine gun, an assault-style rifle and three pistols were confiscated from three teens by Greenville County Sheriff’s deputies who were tipped off that something violent would occur in the parking lot of an aquatic center.

Omari Mcmorris, 18, and two 17-year-olds who were not identified due to their age, were arrested at the Westside Aquatic Center, which is run by the Greenville County Parks Recreation & Tourism Department.

“The tip didn’t indicate the violence was directed towards the people at the aquatic center, but just that it was to take place on site,” Lt. Ryan Flood said.

Mcmorris was charged with having a machine gun or sawed-off shotgun or rifle and released on a $5,000 personal recognizance bond Monday, the day of the arrest, by Greenville County Magistrate Seldon T. Peden.

The arrest warrant says when deputies arrived they saw a group of visibly armed people “involved in suspicious activity.”

Mcmorris had a handgun with a switch, which made it an automatic weapon, the warrant states.

It is against the law to have such a weapon without a license.

The other teens are also facing weapons charges and were taken to the Greenville County Juvenile Detention Center.
