A new restaurant and wine bar debuts in Cayce. Check out what’s on the menu
A new spot for oysters, wine and cocktails, artisan pizza, lobster rolls and more recently made its debut near Columbia.
George Robert’s Wine & Raw Bar opened last week at 1301 State St. in Cayce, right across the street from Brookland-Cayce High School. This marks the second George Robert’s location in the Midlands, following the popular original in Irmo.
The new Cayce George Robert’s was initially announced last summer and is part of a revitalized shopping center. It’s located at the intersection of State Street and Jansen Avenue, not far from busy Knox Abbott Drive.
Menus shared on April 26 on the George Robert’s State Street Facebook show a host of seafood and other options. For instance, they offer both New England and Connecticut style lobster rolls. The New England version comes on a toasted bun with Old Bay aioli and is served chilled with kettle chips. Meanwhile, the Connecticut version comes on a toasted bun with Old Bay butter and is served warm with kettle chips.
The restaurant also has raw and toasted oysters, shrimp tacos, artisan pizzas, filet steak, roasted salmon, crab cakes, salads and much more. George Robert’s also offers a deep roster of red and white wines, beer, cocktails, mimosas and other beverages.
The Cayce location is already drawing reactions online, with at least one use on the popular Columbia Foodies Facebook page praising the raw bar and restaurant for its crab cakes, roasted salmon and Caesar salad, among other items.
George Robert’s on State Street is open from 4 to 9 p.m. Tuesdays through Thursdays and 4 to 10 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays, according to an April 26 post on its Facebook page.
