Former Greenville cancer doctor charged after exposing himself in hair salon, police say
A doctor who was praised for revolutionizing cancer care in South Carolina has been arrested and charged with exposing himself in a hair salon.
The Greenville Police Department charged William Larry Gluck after receiving a complaint that he exposed himself at Artistic Cutters on Rocky Slope Road, on April 16. He was arrested Monday.
The warrant says police have video footage of the alleged incident. He was charged with indecent exposure.
A manager at the salon told WYFF News 4 Gluck exposed himself and stayed that way until police were called.
Gluck retired after 40 years as an oncologist with what is now Prisma Health Greenville in May 2023.
He also served as a professor at GHS University Medical Center and the USC School of Medicine and was awarded the Order of the Palmetto in 2023.
A $3 million endowed chair by Prisma Health was established in his honor in 2023. When it was established Prisma Health said Gluck created “a cancer research-and-treatment powerhouse that has discovered new cancer-fighting medicines, brought first-in-nation clinical research trials into the Upstate and provided extraordinary care for countless cancer patients and families.”
Gluck is a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine in Pennsylvania, completed an internship and residency at the University Health Center in Pittsburgh and his fellowship in Hematology and Oncology at the Duke University Medical Center in Durham, North Carolina. He was on the faculty of Duke University Medical Center Division of Hematology and Medical Oncology before coming to Greenville in 1986.
