A new Lexington location of a popular Midlands ice cream shop is being prepped
An ice cream shop that has been popular near northeast Columbia is making progress on an additional location in Lexington.
Scoop of Heaven Homemade Ice Cream, which has a location on Spears Creek Church Road in Elgin, said on social media Thursday that construction has begun on its coming Lexington spot.
“We’re excited to bring sweet scoops to the Lexington area soon,” Scoop of Heaven said on Facebook. The post drew a big reaction, with nearly 300 likes, more than 60 comments and nearly 30 shares as of Friday morning.
The Lexington Scoop of Heaven will be at 312 Columbia Ave., not far from downtown. It will be at a property that formerly was home to a Sonic Drive-In. That Sonic moved up the street to 461 Columbia Ave. back in 2023. There is a large sign at 312 Columbia Ave. saying that Scoop of Heaven is coming soon.
The Elgin Scoop of Heaven location opened in July 2024, in the Spears Creek Plaza retail center. The restaurant offers more than 30 flavors of ice cream, along with milkshakes and more.
Columbia Avenue in Lexington is a bustling thoroughfare near the heart of town, lined with businesses, restaurants and more. About 34,000 cars per day travel down the avenue, per state Department of Transportation statistics.
