Wine Walk to close roads in Lexington. What to know about detours, parking
Editor's Note: A major road in downtown Lexington will be closed for an event this weekend, and traffic will be directed to use alternative routes.
The Lexington Police Department said a portion of Main Street in downtown Lexington will be closed for the town’s annual Wine Walk on Saturday, May 9. The event, hosted by the Lexington Beautification Foundation, will feature unlimited wine tastings, food for purchase and music from Going Commando.
Signs for detours will be in place and officers will assist with traffic and pedestrian crossings at several intersections.
Closures will begin at noon, from the intersection of Main Street/US-1 from Lake Drive to Church Street. Northbound traffic will be directed onto Corley Street to South Church Street to West Main Street.
Drivers headed onto West Main Street will be directed from South Church Street to Maiden Lane to South Lake Drive back to East Main Street.
Detours will last until about 10 p.m.
Wine Walk attendees are encouraged to find parking in public lots around downtown. Owners of private business lots may be towed.
The Lexington Police Department will share updates on social media pages, including Facebook and X.
