Free backpacks, free supplies greet Cayce schoolchildren on first day of school

What could be better than a backpack full of goodies on your first day of school?

First-graders at the Davis Early Childhood Center for Technology in Cayce received a free backpack full of school supplies on Wednesday to help them start their school year right.

Lexington’s Golden State Foods Foundation members delivered the supplies and backpacks to each of the school’s first-graders.

Golden State Foods, an international food service supplier with a location in Lexington, works with 11 area schools year round. It plans to give out 1,250 backpacks full of supplies this year.
