A coffee shop that touts authentic Middle Eastern coffee is planning a location in a key Columbia district.

Qahwah Palace, a Yemeni coffee shop that opened a location in Greenville last year, is planning a spot at 616 Harden St. in Columbia’s popular Five Points nightlife and hospitality district just east of the University of South Carolina.

There are large banners in the windows at 616 Harden saying that Qahwah Palace will be “Brewing Soon” at that address, and there is a City of Columbia building permit for the project hanging near the door.

The company also has recently touted the coming Columbia shop on social media.

“Columbia deserves a late-night coffee spot,” Qahwah Palace said on Instagram. “We can’t wait to welcome you to Qahwah Palace in Five Points.”

A video with the post shows construction work going on inside the space at 616 Harden. An opening date for the Five Points spot has not been publicly announced.

Qahwah Palace opened a location on North Main Street in Greenville last year, as noted by the Upstate Business Journal.

“Our story began with a deep love for coffee and a fascination with its storied past,” Qahwah Palace says on its website. “We set out to celebrate the extraordinary flavor of sun-dried beans sourced directly from the terraced farms of Hijjah, Yemen — prized for their rich, complex notes — by creating a place where every cup tells their tale.”
