A new spot for sandwiches, including late night offerings, is headed to a popular Columbia neighborhood.

NY Deli & Co. is coming to 819 Harden St. in Five Points, near Greene Street, according to a large banner that is hanging on the storefront there. That space was formerly home to Arroyo Tacos + Tequila, which closed earlier this year. Prior to that, the spot was home to Southern Belly BBQ for a number of years.

The banner on the building and the NY Deli & Co. website each tout that the business will offer sandwiches, juices and grab-and-go offerings. A post on the NY Deli & Co Instagram page notes the shop will have, among other things, “hot pastrami on rye, fresh juice, and late-night Phillies until 3AM.”

An exact opening date for NY Deli & Co. has not been publicly announced, though the deli’s website says it is aiming for a late summer debut.

Direct neighbors to the NY Deli & Co. space include Eddie’s Calzones and Pawleys Front Porch.

Located just east of the University of South Carolina’s campus, Columbia’s Five Points neighborhood remains one of the city’s key shopping, restaurant and late-night bar districts. It is an area that’s busy with both pedestrian and vehicle traffic. About 24,000 cars per day travel down Harden Street, per state Department of Transportation data.
