Midlands authorities are seeking a man accused of striking an adult and a child with a gun.

The Sumter Police Department said in a Sunday release that an up to $2,500 reward is being offered for information leading to the arrest of Rayshon Jamaal Foster, 32, of Pinson Street. Police say Foster is wanted on charges of possession of a firearm by a person convicted of a violent felony, three counts of pointing and presenting a firearm and two counts of assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature.

Police said in a release that officers were called to a business on Broad Street in Sumter at about 6 p.m. Saturday. The suspect is accused of walking into the business and pulling a gun, then striking a 21-year-old man and a 2-year-old child the man was holding. Both victims were taken to a local hospital for treatment.

Police said Foster left the scene before officers arrived and is considered armed and dangerous. Those with information on the case are encouraged to call the Sumter Police Department at 803-4362700 or the nearest law enforcement agency. Tips can be provided by calling Sumter Crime Stoppers at 803-436-2718.
