Richland County sheriff’s deputies Friday morning arrested 48-year-old James Taylor in connection with an early morning homicide in the northeast Columbia area.

Just after midnight, deputies responded to a shooting that had just occurred in the 300 block of Green Rose Road.

Police arrived and found Taylor outside of the home, and a dead woman with multiple gunshot wounds inside, the sheriff’s department said. Taylor was then taken into custody and charged with murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime. He was booked into the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center.
