The 4th of July is only a day away, and celebrations are nearly here.

Between cookouts and fireworks shows, it’s hard not to love partaking in the federal holiday, but it can be hard to get supplies if you don’t know what’s open.

Here’s a list of what’s open and closed on July 4 in the Columbia area:

What’s open for July 4th

Many grocery stores will not change their store hours for the holiday, or at least be open for some time.

Walmart

Walmart only closes on Thanksgiving and Christmas, so if you need urgent Independence Day supplies, a local Walmart near you will likely be available from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m.

Store hours may vary by location, however. Call the Walmart you plan to shop from, and make sure they’ll be open when you arrive.

Target

Like Walmart, most Targets will not change their business hours for the holiday. On Saturday, your local Target will likely operate from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m.

If you’re not sure the Target near you will have the same hours, you can check store hours on their website here.

Food Lion

Food Lion locations will have regular operating hours between 7 a.m. and 11 p.m. You can check your local Food Lion store hours here.

Publix

Publix locations will have regular operating hours between 7 a.m. and 10 p.m. Their pharmacies will be closed on the holiday.

Dollar General

Dollar General will have regular operating hours, but some locations will close at different hours. Most stores open at 8 a.m. and will close between 8 p.m. and 10 p.m.

Trader Joe’s

All Trader Joe’s locations will be open for the 4th of July, but they will close early at 5 p.m.

Pharmacies

CVS and Walgreen stores will be open for the holiday.

Garbage Pickup

The City of Columbia offices will be closed for the holiday, but garbage and recycling trash collection routes will remain on the regular schedule.

What’s closed on July 4th

Because the 4th of July is a federal holiday, government and city offices will be closed on Saturday. Here’s who’s not working:

Banks

Banks and other financial institutions will be closed in observance of the holiday, and won’t reopen until Monday.

Post Office, UPS and FedEx

The U.S. Postal Service will be closed on the holiday, meaning there will be no mail delivery, and retail services will be paused. Services will return to normal on Monday.

According to their website, people can still visit USPS.com to order stamps and free USPS boxes, and to access services such as Hold Mail, Change of Address, PO Box rental or renewal, and Click-N-Ship to print pre-paid labels. Self-help kiosks are also available at select post offices.

Most UPS and FedEx services will also be unavailable on Saturday.
