Authorities arrested a man they have been seeking for a month in connection with a June shooting in Orangeburg County.

Orangeburg County Sheriff’s Office said Rahmel Warren, 33, has been arrested and charged with attempted murder, possession of a weapon during a violent crime and possession of a firearm by a person convicted of certain crimes.

The suspect was being sought in connection with a June 1 incident in which a 19-year-old male was shot. Authorities said in a June 22 release that, just before 5 p.m. June 1, deputies responded to a call about a shooting at a Baugh Street home. At the home deputies found a victim who had been shot in the upper body.

The suspect was taken into custody July 2 in Columbia by the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division, the U.S. Marshals and the Columbia Police Department, according to a July 3 release from the Orangeburg County Sheriff’s Office. Warren reportedly was denied bond during a Friday hearing.

“This individual was arrested through a joint effort of law enforcement agencies,” Orangeburg Sheriff Leroy Ravenell said in the July 3 release. “One thing he won’t be shooting is fireworks for the 4th of July!”
