Deputies are investigating a reported stabbing incident at Richland County’s jail.

Richland County Sheriff’s Department said in a release that deputies responded at about 11:30 a.m. Thursday to Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center on John Mark Dial Drive after getting a report of a stabbing.

The deputies were told that two inmates got into a fight where both sustained stab wounds from manmade weapons, often referred to as “shanks.”

One inmate was stabbed in the lower body, and the other was stabbed in the upper body, the sheriff’s department said.

The sheriff’s department is continuing to investigate the incident. No arrests have been made.
