Lexington-Richland 5 adds office next to Irmo school

An office building next to Irmo Elementary will become the new headquarters for up to 20 staff members of Lexington-Richland 5 schools this fall.

Plans call for use of the site at 7337 St. Andrews Road to start as soon as October after minor renovation, school spokesman Mark Bounds said Friday.

Some staff members now located in temporary structures next to district headquarters two miles to the north of the school will move there, he said.

Lexington-Richland 5 recently purchased the 4,200-square-foot building for nearly $245,000.

Housing headquarters staff elsewhere is a rare step but makes sense in this instance, Bounds said.
