Two children ID’d as victims in fiery bank crash

A fiery crash killed two young children who were in an SUV that drove through a Greenville bank Sunday morning, authorities said.

Tyrin Savahya Young Jr., 5, and his brother, Micah A. Young, 3, of Greenville, were passengers in a 2001 Ford Expedition being driven by their mother, the Greenville County Coroner’s Office said.

Their SUV was on North Pleasantburg Drive near U.S. 29 when it was struck by a pickup truck at about 9:10 a.m., the Coroner’s Office said.

The crash sent the SUV into the Arthur State Bank building, where the vehicle then caught fire, the Coroner’s Office said.

Both brothers died at the scene. Their mother and another passenger survived.

Autopsies were scheduled for Monday to determine the cause and manner of death.

Greenville police, the Sheriff’s Office and the Wade Hampton Fire Department are still investigating.

Investigators were at the scene for hours reconstructing the crash Sunday afternoon.
