Upstate hammered by storms, Midlands warned of possible damaging winds & hail
The National Weather Service warned of the possibility of isolated damaging winds and large hailFriday night into Saturday with thunderstorms expected to blow through the Midlands.
In the Upstate, electrical storms wreaked havoc on Friday night football games, with many contests delayed until Saturday, Monday or Tuesday. Duke Power reported more than 11,000 customers without power shortly before 11 p.m.
In the Midlands, there’s a 20-30% chance of thunderstorms through the holiday weekend as slightly cooler daytime and overnight temperatures take hold.
