Football forecast: Chance of rain on Saturday
Football fans across South Carolina may need to pack rain gear along with their tailgating supplies for Saturday.
The National Weather Service is predicting a chance of showers and thunderstorms in South Carolina on Saturday. The chance of precipitation in Columbia is 40 percent during the day and 30 percent that night, according to the National Weather Service.
The South Carolina football team’s home opener at Williams-Brice Stadium against Kentucky is set to start at 7:30 p.m. Saturday.
In Clemson, where the No. 12 Tigers will play host to Appalachian State at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, the National Weather Service predicts a 30 percent chance of precipitation.
NCAA football games are generally played in rain but are halted when lightning strikes in the area.
