Single-car accident in Lexington County leaves one dead

The South Carolina Highway Patrol reported that a single-vehicle accident in Lexington County resulted in a death on Saturday night.

Lance Corporal Judd Jones said the driver of a 2016 Toyota Camry was heading south on Ben Franklin Rd. near 10 p.m. when the car went off the left side of the road and struck a tree. Jones said the driver wasn’t wearing a seat belt and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Lexington County Coroner’s Office hasn’t released the victim’s name, and Jones said the accident remains under investigation.
