Richland County Coroner releases name of woman who died following multi-vehicle accident

Richland County Coroner Gary Watts released the name of a person who died on Saturday, following a multi-vehicle collision that occurred on Sept. 6.

Rachel Makayla Roddy, 23, died at Palmetto Richland Memorial Hospital as the result of blunt-force injuries from the crash, Watts said.

According to the South Carolina Highway Patrol, the Gaston resident was involved in a crash that occurred on I-26, near mile marker 107 in Columbia. Roddy wasn’t wearing a seat belt and was ejected from her vehicle said the Highway Patrol, which is still investigating the incident.
