Leger named Lexington County planning director

Lexington County’s officials went across the Congaree River to find their new planning director.

Holland Leger, a planner for 26 years, left the Richland County Planning Department staff to take the post.

He met with members of the Lexington County Planning Commission Thursday.

He replaces Charlie Compton, who is retiring Sept. 30 after guiding growth for 41 years in the 758-square-mile county.

Leger, 54, also was a planner in Greenville County. He lives with his family near Irmo.
