New focus on health at Dutch Fork
School District 5 of Lexington and Richland Counties is holding a ribbon-cutting ceremony Tuesday to open Dutch Fork High School’s new Health Science Center.
The center gives students hands-on experience in the sports medicine and health sciences fields. Students are studying physical therapy and will get a chance to learn how to properly tape ankles among a variety of other things.
The school has partnered with the Moore Center of Orthopedics to exclusively treat student-athletes from all of the district’s high schools at the center, allowing students to observe proper treatment. The school also has interns from the University of South Carolina come in to learn while they work on student-athletes.
