Children’s Trust moves headquarters
A nonprofit that aims to look out for the welfare of children moved to a new location this week, according to its CEO.
Children’s Trust of South Carolina, moved to 1330 Lady St., Suite 310, in the Keenan Building Monday.
CEO Sue Williams said the move was prompted because the building they were in had been sold. Children’s Trust in the building at 1634 Main Street since it was founded in 2007.
“We weren’t sure what the new owners were going to do about the building, so we had to be proactive about that,” she said.
Williams said the new headquarters also offers more space for its 30 full-time staff members and three interns, as some offices in the last building were crammed with three people.
“We have a lot of programs going on and a lot of people to run the programs,” she said.
Because the organization works extensively with the General Assembly to encourage laws that protect children, Williams said Children’s Trust wanted to stay downtown.
She said real estate prices are going back up, so it would have cost about the same to move out of downtown.
All phone numbers and email addresses will stay the same.
“We’re just excited to be in the new space and be able to do more things for improving the lives of South Carolina kids,” Williams said.
