Lexington County recommends evacuation, issues curfew
Lexington County emergency management officials recommend the evacuation of all locations within a quarter mile of the banks of the Lexington County side of the Saluda and Congaree rivers. This is based on information received from SCE&G concerning its plans to release more water from the Lake Murray Dam, which will impact the Saluda and Congaree rivers.
The public should seek shelter with friends or family outside of the quarter mile evacuation zone.
Lexington County will open White Knoll High School as an American Red Cross shelter later this afternoon. Pets aren’t permitted in American Red Cross shelters.
Lexington County curfew
A curfew has been issued for 6 p.m. tonight in all unincorporated areas of Lexington County and its municipalities except Chapin and Irmo. The curfew will be in effect until 6 a.m. Monday.
