Dent Midde School is in need of supplies for its pantry to help those affected by Columbia flooding.

Kassy Alia, the wife of Forest Acres Police officer Greg Alia, said she stopped by to drop off items at the school Thursday and was told they need water, canned food, baby diapers, baby food, toothbrushes, deodorant, cleaning supplies and pet food.

“They’re really serving the people here on this side of town,” said Alia, who has been volunteering throughout the week, in part to thank the community for helping her after the death of her husband earlier this month.

Volunteers at Dent Middle School have set up a makeshift food pantry. They are serving breakfast Friday around 8 or 9 a.m.and are serving lunch today and Friday between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. They are also going door-to-door and handing out supplies in the area.
