FEMA adds Newberry County to list of counties eligible for assistance
NEWBERRY COUNTY, SC Federal Emergency Management Agency officials have added Newberry County to its list of counties that are eligible to receive individual assistance.
Officials said flood survivors who sustained losses in the designate in the designated counties can apply for individual assistance by registering online at Disasterassistance.org, or by calling (800) 621-3362.
Assistance can include money for temporary rental assistance and essential home repairs for primary homes, low-cost loans to cover uninsured property losses and other programs to help survivors recover from the effects of historic flooding throughout the state.
Disaster survivors who are deaf, hard of hearing, or have a speech disability and use a TTY, call (800) 462-7585. If survivors use 711 or VRS (Video Relay Service) or require accommodations while visiting a center, call (800) 621-3362. All disaster recovery centers are accessible and equipped with tools to accommodate disaster survivors who need disability-related communication aids.
Bamberg, Berkeley, Calhoun, Charleston, Clarendon, Colleton, Darlington, Dorchester, Florence, Georgetown, Greenwood, Horry, Kershaw, Lee, Lexington, Orangeburg, Richland, Sumter, and Williamsburg counties were previously designated for Individual Assistance.
