Anderson County teen shot, killed while hunting with foster father

A Pendleton High School student was fatally shot Thursday night while hunting with her foster father, authorities said.

The Anderson County Coroner's Office identified the student Friday as Amanda Daniele Foster, 17.

Coroner Greg Shore said the teen was out with her foster father on his property on Dalrymple Road in Anderson when she was shot at 6:50 p.m.

She died of a single gunshot wound from a high-powered rifle, according to Shore. The foster father fired the shot.

Hunting was a hobby for the Pendleton High teen, Shore said, and she often went hunting after school.

"She loved it, and had a passion for it," Shore said.

The Coroner's Office and the state Department of Natural Resources is investigating the death.

An autopsy was scheduled for Friday.
